The overnight rain cleared to give a wonderful afternoons cricket at Escrick. Batting first the YG's found it hard going pre-lunch and were well pegged back to be on 98-5 at the end of the session. However, good batting post a port or two by Phill Holland -63, Pankaj Saini - 34 and Tim Smythe-Osborne - 19, gave the YG's a decent score of 195-8.

In response, Sheffield Uni Staff got off to a good start and were well placed at 85-1. The YG's bowling attack kept it tight during the final session and in the end neither side could push for victory. They ended the day on 162-7. Wayne Goldstein was the pick of the YG bowlers with 3-33 off 15 overs, but he was well backed up by the whole attack. Always a pleasure to host the Sheffield Uni Staff team, especially on a glorious May day. We hope to see them again next season.
