The YGs maintain their unbeaten start to the season on their visit to Ampleforth college to play the Old Amplefordians.
In perfect conditions the YGs batted first and posted a very competitive total. Jason Dale (53) and David O'Kelly (60) shared a 116 run opening partnership. Phil Holland added some useful runs late on with 38 not out and allowed the YGs to declare on 198 for 5 . Tight bowling however kept the scoring rate down with the OA's sending down 57 overs. A good effort in the heat of the day.
In reply the Old Amplefordians got off to a rapid start with T Bromet making 63. Some good bowling by the whole attack though pegged them back and they finished on 132 for 8 at the close of play. Phil Holland perhaps the pick of the bowlers with 3-14 off 7 overs.
