2 out of 2 for the YGs

The YGs notched up their second win of the season with a solid performance against Woodhouse Grange.

Under the leadership of debutant Match Manager Phil Holland, the team worked hard to get to 182 all out. Bevan Fawcett top scored with 38 and valuable contributions from A.J. Clarke and Phil Holland (37 a piece) lower down the order helped take the score on from 145 for 8 at lunch.

In reply the visitors found it hard going. Although well positioned at 46 for two at tea, the final session saw a flurry of wickets with the spinners doing most of the damage.  They slumped to 62-6 before a quick fire 27 by S Burdett gave them some hope. After his wicket fell the hosts dug in but their resistance ended with 6 overs to go with Tim Smythe Osborne taking the last wicket.

Bevan Fawcett had a particularly good game taking with 5-17 off 12 overs.  He was well back up with a disciplined display of bowling all round.

A special note should be made of our regular keeper Neil Dale who was hit in the face by a ball. Play was halted as a bloodied nose needed attention. YGs first aiders did a fine job of patching him up with application of cotton wool to the nostrils!  Play quickly resumed with our brave keeper (with his good looks having taken a bit of a bashing) putting the gloves back on and finishing the match with two good catches to his name.

Stay fit Neil - we need you this season. Well done the YGs keep it going.
